Examples for Communication

installationview: "Heyday", ARTSPEAK, Vancouver, 2006
The series "examples for communication" uses photomaterial
taken out of cheaply produced travel agency brochures.
In these brochures the pictures are used to transport the idea of a happy
family vacation.
With a simple computer-aided interference their original intention is
turned into its opposite. After removing all additional objects (magazines,
toys, drinks etc.) which the models originally were given to make them
look contented, the view is drawn on the relations between the acting
people.
The apparent attracting, positive and enviable situation of succeeded
communication changes into a state of miscommunication.
Referring to their original name in the nomenclatur of the travel brochures
("example for living"; German: "Wohnbeispiel"), they
are titled "example for communication #...".
